Verizon Fios TV issued a press release today that it would
have 150 HD channels by the end of 2008. Verizon Fios TV
is the fastest growing multi video provider in the United States
having increased the number of TV subs by more than 39
percent in the third quarter. Initially Verizon will more than
double the number of HD channels to over 60. HD video
on demand will be added as well. A few titles will be added in
2007. In 2008, over 1000 titles will be added.
Unlike some other multi video providers, Verizon Fios
does not have a separate charge for HD. Verizon currently
offers 20 national HD channels and up to 37 HD channels
in some local markets including local HD channels, HD
regional sports networks and national HD channels.
